Cars in German Town Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were notified by a resident who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly 50 automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.

City officials stated they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the residents for tips.

An important representative stated the vandalism rendered him speechless and required to be addressed quickly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
